Madeira Airport (IATA: FNC) is located 22.5 Km / 14 miles outside of the city of Funchal. It takes about half an hour to get to the centre of town by taxi.
Getting to and from the airport
By car
Car rental: car rental companies have their office at the terminal. It takes about 15 minutes drive on R101 in order to reach the center of Funchal from the airport.
By Shuttle
The Aerobus departs from the Arrivals area towards the Formosa beach, with stops near several hotels for your convenience. And if your flight is delayed, the Aerobus will wait for you, for up to a maximum of one hour.

Airport, Estrada Boa Nova, Rua Ribeiro João Gomes, Rua do Anadia, Av. do Mar, Rua Dr. Brito Camara, São João, Av. Calouste Gulbenkian, Av. Infante, Estrada Monumental, Rua Passos Gouveia, Estrada Monumental, Praia Formosa.
Total duration of the trip: about 45 minutes. From the Formosa Beach, you can take a connection to the centre of Funchal, which lasts about 20 minutes.

At the Madeira Airport, there is a taxi rank at Arrivals, on the Ground Flooor (0).
Regardless of your destination, on weekdays, the prices of trips from the airport begin at €4.00, with a 20% increase for trips made between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., as well as all day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
When travelling with baggage or animals, an additional €1.50 fee will apply.
By Bus
With the exception of 25 December, several buses are available every day, bound for various locations on the island. Know the routes and choose what suits you.
